What is your TCREW Story? (i.e. When did you join TCREW and in what ways have you been active--committees, chair positions, etc)
I joined TCREW in 2000. I served as chair of the programs committee and then served on the board as a Director, a Delegate and then as President.
What is your most significant TCREW connection? How has your TCREW membership been impactful in your own personal growth and development?
TCREW has introduced me to a world of like-minded, supportive and challenging professionals. I have found this organization to be a wealth of industry knowledge, a great resource for professional and personal development and most importantly a network of people with whom I love to work and to whom I love to refer work.
How do you see TCREW impacting the Triangle?
TCREW does a great job of highlighting the contributions of women in commercial real estate in the Triangle and supporting the advancement of women in the industry.
How can we, as women in the commercial real estate industry, best make an impact in mentoring the next generation of women in CRE?
I’m a firm believer in one-on-one mentoring, but I could also see our chapter creating some type of topical mentoring in which the more seasoned members provide a list of topics in which they have experience and could offer advice to younger members.
What is one goal you would like to achieve through TCREW?
Expand my network of industry friends.
What is the best leadership advice you have been given or can give to others?
I read a great article in Forbes recently that rings true from my experience. It stated that sincere enthusiasm is contagious and that trust lost is difficult to get back. Great leaders tend to be great servants, willing to listen, give the spotlight to team, and help each team member effectively use their unique talents.
